Alfa Romeo 145 /146

External design- (i'm not an Alfa's fan) looks ok and design is not out of date and today.Interior is really simple and nice ,quality of interior parts is not superb but, it have Italian charm and everything is thought out.On 3 door hatchback rear windows not fall but open to sides (gills) cool, but there is small problem-always forgetting close them.

Car is really good, but from other side same bad as good.I'll try to explain.Branded

disadvantages of the engine-Alfa's TS-Twin Spark acceleration  absolutely useless until 3500 rpm. but after is real beast, that's why if you want to feel acceleration you need to keep above 3000rpm.

All 16-valve engines "twin spark"(with 2 spark plugs on 1 cylinder) are really"tender"special 2.0 L .engines they do not tolerate overloads on cold (can crack the pistons).Even newer models suffering from increased oil consumption.Tends to accumulate carbon ,This results in damage to the pushers,variable valve timing system and quick clogging of the oil filter.Some models suffering from penetration of moisture in the control unit.To avoid bigger problems you need significantly reduce  oil change intervals.But even with exceptional care those engines not able drive more than 60000miles without problems.

Suspension- awfully tough,that's for a better handling. But if you want good handling, apart from rigid shock absorbers and low suspension need balance and steering sharpness. Steer is really good but balance!-At the corners  the back throws and jumps, so if you want stability you need fill your trunk some sand or bricks (i'm joking).Fully independent suspension provides good handling,but for that you will have to pay for it frequent visits to the service.Some problems can not be detected by any suspicious knocking sounds.So if you thinking to buy one service check is recommended.

Fuel Consumption 6.5 motorway-10.5city (its a lot for 1.4 engine) with 10 l consumption. Dynamic is really poor, that,s TS minus.One more TS minus spark plugs-2 Spark plugs on one cylinder so on 4 cylinder engine you need 8 spark plugs it will cost you from 70£-...and plus service.

Alfa 145/146 until 1997 have opposite engine(boxer)-1.4-1.6-1.7 16v. Older engines suffering from oil leaks.

Engine have 2 timing belts recommended changes every 40,000miles

Increased noise inside car its normal for  cars with opposite engines.
