Petrol engines have problems with timing belt,in theory changes recommended after every 75.000miles but in real life it last two times less and just for peace of your mind do service checks every 20.000miles.If timing belt fails the engine will be seriously damaged and it will cost you a $.
Second weak point variable valve timing .When a malfunction occurs you will hear characteristic dithering,first on cold engine ,later all the times. This will lead to wear of phase variator gear (variator cant be repaired ,only replaced) that is real expensive repair.
If engine not starting,cuts out,misfire's-Check ECU module.
Diesel modifications have a very small ground clearance which is causing plastic bottom damage.
